What are you trying to do? To answer your question, if you completely eliminate the pickup (for whatever reason) the alarm will sound - unless you take care of the sensor.

    Low Fuel Alarm

When I removed my oil tank, I cut the plug off of the sending unit, soldered the ends together, shrink wrapped the terminal, and plugged it back in. It measured just under 1k resistance. The oil tank reads full on the gauge, and the alarm is silent.

I bet the fuel sender could be silenced the same way. The manual should list resistance at different levels. You may need to add a resistor to achieve the proper resistance.

Twist the two leads together, and it will silence the alarm.
