The boating market is really toast!
As of February, 2009, Info-link.com reports both PWC and powerboat sales off by more than a third, and perhaps as much as 40%.
The National Marine Manufacturers Association estimates that as of late March, marine industry unemployment was more than 50 percent.
The San Diego Boat Show, the Schaumburg Boat & Sportshow, and the Virginia and Charleston in-water boat shows have been canceled.
Boat repossessions were up 86% last year.
In a new Harris poll, 95% of Americans said they would not consider buying a boat or recreational vehicle in the next six month.
It's a hell of a time to be in the boat biz...

I am in the market for a new ski but to my suprise the dealers aren't moving much on the prices being it is boating season. There were deals to be had at the bost show in January though.

I hope it picks up again... I would really love to open my own PWC Dealership when I get out of college in 4 years.

With the possibility of $4-6 a gallon gas, only the rich and famous will be able to run them. All "toy" sales are down though, Victory motorcycle sales were off %49 in the first quarter of 09'

I love going to the lake, been doing it all my life, and hope to continue to do so. Sad many other won't be able to do so because of money, but then again we are in a down economic cycle. Things will come back. In the mean time this will help us buy more water toys at cheaper prices.

this is a bad time to be in any buisness except lein enforcement.when times are tough the toy payments always go first.saw it starting at the end of last summer.
