something in the pump? If not....could be stripped splines...

You may have sucked some crap into the pump. I have done this a couple of times. Usually, you can shut it off, and then start again and it goes. You may just have to look up inside, and see if there is any crap lodged in there.

why dont you check out the wear ring and impeler, if he stripped the splines it must have been something real gnarly that got wedged in there..or pull off the intake grate and see if you can spin the drive shaft freely..if you can your in bad shape

hmm good point..i dont think he pulled his pump, i was under the impression that he only rebuilt the carbs and then his ski was having issues

I see why MP asked about the pump.. its my thought stripped or a busted shaft (gpr's notorious for busted on hp setups)..... in a normal senario the pump is put on and then the intermediate is floated on and set, then forgot .. there is the possiblity the intermediate may have had shims installed to put it in line.. the bulkhead the intermediate shaft bolts on to may not be square in the hull relative to the alinement.. shims were then used to bring it back in line...if they were left out, the shaft is then in a slight bind ,as the intermediate floats on the oring seal..the splines get a side load and wear the surfaces quickly..
IF ANY ONE CARES.. the WR'S use two splines, one on the pump ,one inside the motor extension/ muffler housing that addapts this from outboard use.. two places to check on a WR..(there are 4 shafts... crank crank extender, intermediate and impeller)
