    Intercoolers

    What are my options for adding a intercooler to a 185 Hp. Will the 185 computer work with the addition of a intercooler.

    It'll work fine and give you 50-100 more rpm's.
    Check out the XS intercooler in the store...best bang for the buck. I put one on my old GTX.

    What system will flow better- 185 intake with external intercooler or the 215 intake with internal intercooler.

    185 with external intercooler will flow better. First, remove the flame arrestor in the intake manifold to ensure there's no restriction. If you get a higher boost charger and aftermarket air intake you will be able to feel the gains of adding an intercooler more compared to putting one on a 100% stock ski. Either way though, it still adds a lot of power.

    What is the boost limit of the 185 SC without changing the flywheel gear. What would be the recommended wheel.

    Do you mean how much boost can you get out of the engine or do you mean how much can you boost it before it's not safe? There are chargers pushing 20 psi now, but to be on the safe side I would stop at a Riva gen II wheel (green wheel, rotax high boost, a kit wheel are all equivalents). The absolute most I would push it with the stock pistons is a Riva Stage III charger. After that, reliability will decrease exponentially. Basically, 10 psi or less is ok IMO. You will see about 1 psi less on the 185 than you would on the 215 with the same mods done to each ski.

    At 8 or 9 psi boost with a intercooler on a 185 hp motor with cast pistons what on the piston fails. Does the top ring groove collapse or does the piston crack at the wrist pin.
