    making my ski faster

I have a bone stock 96 slx 780 that is hitting around 58 mph at about 6500rpms. My question is how can I get some more top end speed without breaking the bank or tearing apart the engine? Im looking to get her over 60. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    400

    speed

that ski is pretty much topped out from the factory.don't change the pump wedge unless you change the water tube as well or you'll break the pump nozzle putting it back together.bumping the compression and repitch on the prop might add 2mph.but why chase 2 mph??you can make that ski much more fun.swap out the reed petals for light tension carbon tech.that ski has a twisted pump wedge.go to standard 4 and matching water tube, remove the 5/8" tail cone spacer.it'll take off faster, ride better thru the rough, and have much better throttle response, all of which you'll definately notice.throw on a rd 650 grate and enjoy it for what it is.

You may want to get better reed petals like mentioned above. ^^^^^

Look into a Stainless Steel 6 vane jet pump stator. Should add 1-2 MPH

Maybe a Wetwolf Adjust A Thrust may gain you 1-2 MPH also.

You can try "trueing" the hull. May gain 1/2 MPH for free!

Bigger carbs would help with top speed. ( I happen to have a complete 44mm set up for sale)

I like where Xlint is going with this.

Howdy GreenGuyz, ready for another season, I am !!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, click this link to my album, the 3rd pic caption explains my mods, which includes the 44MM Pro carb rack and all of the goodies to go along with it. If you utilize decent resources to acquire your parts, it is not too difficult to do most of the modification yourself, which keeps it fairly inexpensive to get such an improvement over the 96 780, all around, for sure.

Yeah, much like SL's setup, I certainly picked his melon a few times through the process, and definitely have to thank Bob/lugs for some great pricing on some of the needed parts to do the job. Specs will be listed once confident and tuned, gettin there, sooner than later. Thing pulls outta the hole like a freight train though, can't imagine once FULLY tuned.
