Ever wanted to be with twins??? I did too!
... but you need to remember that this is a SeaDoo forum!
I’ve recently acquired two 1996 SeaDoo GTI’s (717 engines) and both need engine work. Both had 150 psi on the Mag cylinders… and both had 30 psi on the PTO cylinder. I pulled the heads this weekend and based on color and lack of carbon deposits in the PTO cylinders suspect that they were subject to very lean conditions. (The grey Tempo lines are still in both skis and I bet carbs have never been pulled and cleaned on either ski.) I'll correct all that.
Per the service manual I’m going to go ahead and have a 1st bore done on both skis at 82.25mm. (0.25mm over.) My questions is this: Where is the best place to get a top end kit or maybe individual pieces for a top end job? SBT wanted $300 for their top end kit which I’m hoping is kind of pricey since I've got two skis to rebuild. Where else to look? Just trying to keep the costs as low as possible in order to stay on good terms with the wife!

Talk to Mongoose2 and Tweeker...they have a shop called PurrPerformance. They are on the web too. www.purrperformance.com
I had my cylinders and pistons in about a weeks time. I think the price was very fair.Give them a call or a PM. Great guys to work with.

PPG is WAY over priced IMO. I got my 951 parts for a heck of a lot less than PPG offered

Or if you have time...search ebay. I ended up with a set of OEM 787 pistons for 49.99 brand new.
