    First factory service

    my dealer told me that the first service will be 495$ on an FZS.... what duz it consist of.....seems a little steep to me

    yeah, I think mine was like 100-200. 500 is crazy! I would call around and get another price...

    Does that price include the crack pipe he's smoking? They call them stealers for a reason. You can probably do the entire checklist from the svc manual yourself in about 1hr. I think Riva charges ~$200 for the 10 hr.

    +1 -- should be no more than $200.

    Change oil and check for any loose bolts, do it yourself.

    My dealer thru the first check/oil change in for free. $500 is a rip-off. Earlier this year I checked another dealer to get my oil changed and they were going to charge $150 plus oil and filter. I went with my dealer for only $65 plus oil and filter.

    I lubed up the steering, trim, and reverse bucket. IMO that should be done every few weeks during the riding season (if there is a season).

    Yea, your ass if you pay $500 to the stealer for an oil change and "check up"

    what about the shaft bearing?
    i already have 10 hrs, and i did the first oil change myself @ 3 hrs, gonna do another one soon but wondered what else i need to check
