    Help with starter bendix/pto cover

I can't for the life of me get the starter drive gear to seat so it does not touch the starter gear.

I can see on the back of the shaft it is notched so it should fit in the center of the gear that sits behind the starter drive gear and engages with the actual starter gear.

What the heck am I doing wrong here..?

Pics one and two are the farthest I can get it pushed back.

first 2 picture were out off focus, Hazy 3rd picture is good. Did you have a supercharger washer failure on this engine?

    Yes, one ceramic washer went.

Anyone else?? Only pics I have right at this moment..

I think the starter drive gear is supposed to go back further. Is there anything that I'm missing to make that happen??

Hopefully these will help... much clearer pics.

You can see the starter drive gear is engaged half way with the starter gear...

Something definitely doesn't look right... why do you have the cover off to begin with

Ya... I'm almost positive that starter drive gear should not touch the starter gear at all. I just can't get it to seat further back... was hoping someone who has had the cover off 100 times might know exactly what the heck this dumb shit is doing wrong...

This is my 2006 that I bought with one blown ceramic washer. I flushed the motor and had both oil pumps replaced + 08 SC rebuild. Ready to get this thing back together but this damn drive is kicking my ass...

I'd pull the bendix apart to see why it's not retracting all the way! There's a C clip on the end of the starter shaft... pop it off and remove the bendix assembly. Take a good look at the starter shaft... should be fairly easy to find this problem

it will only fit one way. I just went through this last week. it took a minute but got it to line up. it will slide back to the point where the gears don't touch.

It looks like it is in to far. Did you install the 2 spring washers and thrust washer?
