Just wondering if anyone had any race results. Looked like the weather was pretty rough over the weekend.

The first weekend for the Texas Hydrocross Series had a good turn out. Saturday had a fairly big spectator crowd with the 2nd Annual Lakeside Show Down BBQ Cookoff being right beside the racing action there at the park. The Ski classes got their interest to bring out the lawn chairs. Then the novices classes started peaking their curiosity and started dragging over the coolers to the lawn chairs. We did the chicken dance with the crowd and the chicks in the scoring tower, and then they were absolutely blown away with the loud blast off of the ProAM class in the last race with all the modded runabouts on the line. There were people coming from all over the park to see what was going on immediately after the start. With the loud start, the massive pack of high speed boats coming by on the first lap, and then the tight competition for an hour on the water for that race, there is now negotiations underway to have the cookoff with the race next year in May at Lake Bryan as one combined event. Additional live entertainment and all the BBQ the racers can eat was in the talks.

Light south winds prevailed on Saturday only to have a strong storm come in just after 5 am on Sunday morning. After assessing for damages and rounding up all the stray buoys that went clear across the lake, racing was back on. By 9 am the sun was out in full force with a light cool breeze from the north that would prevail for the rest of the day with absolutely great conditions.

Changes are in store for the next rounds at Lake Somerville, June 6 and 7. The neck rings will be mandatory for all runabout classes. Not brand specific, just has to be a manufactured device. A roll of shop towls and duct tape dont count. A type xx vest with the neck ring built in like the ones from Lifeline will also be accepted. The other changes will be the addition of the Sport-Spec Class, and the Ski 660cc Open classes. These two classes will be sporting 50% entry fees.

Ad space is still available on the new race directors/announcing tower on the beach. It will be wrapped in banners similar to the towers at world finals. Contact us for more details.

Results from this weekend will be up soon on the site.
