What creates speed - weight or engine? Why is the RXP as fast....
....as the RXT???
So the '04 RXP had a 215hp motor and ran about 65-67 stock. And the current '08 RXT has a 215hp motor in it and runs about 65-67 stock...but being a 3 seater, I am assuming it weighs more than my '04 2-seater....so why are the speeds roughly the same???
Obviously, weight makes a huge difference..but the same motors, in different skis running the same speeds....??
What brings this up is the conversions people are doing - taking a motor out of a ski that runs 60mph, and putting it into a 2 seater hull and running over 80mph???

3 mph is alot. plus some new tech stuff in the 08....try to compare same year rxt &rxp... 2-4 mph diff......
run them next to each other and the rxp walks away at 2-4 mph....

I am just stunned by some of the MASSIVE differences with the conversion skis and how fast they are running.

Alot of it has to do with the efficiency of the hulls.. The Yamaha hull had alot less motor meaning the engineers could be much more aggressive with the hull and the same but opposite for the RXP, with so much extra horse power IMO they threw every speed break possible to slow the RXP down..

Couple of points...
1. Water conditions apply here, certain hulls will perform better in specific environments. I have never been passed by a stock 215 RXP in the chop.
2. You don't always have to go to a different hull or a 2 seater to exceed 80 mph, as shown here:

I'm sure someone could modify a rideplate to get the 3 seater hulls up out of the water to reduce the wetted surface. Length brings stability to a boat hull. High speeds require stability for anything but perfect glass water.

Hey !!!! That Seagoat chit is so fast compared to polaris what is the point? The seadoo folks just need to make a bigger fuel tank ! Then there will be no more argument.
