    05 pump worth it?

I have a friend with an 04 gp1300r RRE, (basically a level 1) . In addition to that he has installed an 800 grate, had the head machined and angled the ride plate. Currently running 70/71 mph at 7110, 82 F weather, 65F water. Any opinion on the 05 pump upgrade. Looking to gain top speed. What can he expect from the 05 pump w/ the dynafly 14/20. Looking for some advice before dropping $600 plus $$$.

I think the pump and prop is like 1 to 1.5 mph faster.

A used ff plate from Jim would gain around 4 mph and be alot less
    money.

Thanks mtrager. That's quite a gain. The ski currently has a home angled Riva plate. I can't remember the exact angle off the top of my head. We'll have to check it again. I'm think it is close to .8 " Kept removing material from the bosses and on the pump and angled it until the gains stopped, (Kind of a backyard mod though). Looking back probablly should of went with the Jim's. I do suspect that there is more to be gained here. Mainly because it will run the same top speed with a passenger on the back. I think it's because even with the additional weight of the passenger the nose is up higher so it's a wash. Considered "Jim's plate", sure wish there was one we could borrow for testing before dropping the limited $$$ available.

I do not know what kind of angle he had until he replied .8.

Either way 71 is not fast with his mods. $600 with a prop is a lot to pay for 1.5 miles per hour. He also stated he was looking for top speed only.

I would get a good plate used, or have yours worked by someone, keyway, sonic booms and spend less and have
a 76 mile per hour ski on old pump.

Then when your ready for more do the pump/porting.

I might even be stretching an 05 pump at 1.5mph gain.
