    carb rebuild-clean questions

I have a set of stock carbs for a stock 1200 xlt 99. the carbs look very good inside. I cleaned them with some carb spray. When I cleaned the pump side of #3 the rubber and plastic seperated on the gasket. I cleaned it up and reassembled. should I replace? Also do you use thread locker on the carb screws?

If it's what I think you're talking about, you're fine - don't worry about it.

Lots of us use the Riva clear blue fuel line.

You know, after reading the post above, I didn't realize the OP was talking about the factory parts. I thought he was talking about the pump gasket/diaphragm separating on a new kit. Yes, rebuild them. And NO do not use locktite on any of the carb bolts. In fact, use pipe thread sealer so you can get them back out at a later date.

so I should break down and buy the carb kits. the inside of these look very clean. I have had no screws stick or dirt or rust. a little gel in one of the screens but no corrosion.

the third pic shows the plastic rubber seperation. I think they are clean. that is how all the insides look. I think they were recently rebuilt. they even have grease where the grease should be.
