Anyone using Protec or R+D ignition with triples????

I have had yet another Advent malfunction and need a spare CDI. Has anyone used
the protec or early R+D (before Advent) with triples?? Need some info on curves, rev limiters etc....

    Thanks.....

I have an R&D modded CDI you can use if you need to do some testing on your ignition. Let me know.

R&D works fine, you can set the limiter to 8,000 and make sure it is set correctly for one the the triple pipe curves

I have used both with good results. The R&D is the best out of two. The R&D sometimes has issues opening the power valves when your running on a triple pipe motor for some odd reasons, but yet works perfect using the
same unit on a single pipe boat.

I dont have power valves that should not be a problem. I have the ignition but have no idea what curves are in it or what the switches do.

It also has a couple of extra leads that the stock CDI and Advent does not have..

On the face of the unit it has the number 1089.

Does anyone know who can tell me what curves are availible????

    well...

the problem you have is who knows what curves are on the CDI

if it came from a single pipe ski it probably has the 4 standard R&D curves

if it came off a triple pipe race ski it could have anything on it

as far as I know there is no way of telling what curves are on it, you would have to send it back to R&D to do that

the 2 extra wires are to trigger extra devices, most people don't use them

they can put any curve you want on the CDI for you or they offer a set of standard curves you can use

if you send me your e-mail address I can send you a set of instructions
