    WTB: SL780 pistons x2

As you can see in my avatar my pistons are no more. The pto has a hole and the center has just a depression but is really loose in the cylinder. So, if anybody has any pistons for a 96 sl780 i want them!!

    Thanks, justin

both cyls will may have to be honed. I guess the stock size unless honing requires them to be larger

You'll need to know this before you buy pistons.

These aren't bad at all once you find the size.

i would STRONGLY recomend just buying three, NEW pistons, and going up to a .5mm over. take your cyls, have them bored to match the pistons, and start new. your cyls will be scored, and probably out of round, and tappered. jsut putting a std size piston back in, will not last long.

you need to fully inspect your crank, and make sure your bottom end is still good. you need to also FIX the issue, that caused this problem. either a lean condition, or detonation.

if you are going to take the time to do this job, do it right. your ski will run longer, and better!

i can order a new top end kit for you, 3 pistons, rings, pins, bearings, top end gasket set, etc.

Im thinking the rear crank seal is leaking and thats the problem but not sure yet. i havent been able to get the exhaust off the mani to do a leakdown test because i snapped one of those 19mm bolts and its all seized up. I was looking at those topend rebuild kits and they wanted like 450 for it which is almost what i paid for the ski. It looks to me like the cyls will be ok with just a hone. There are no deep scratches or anything. I found some wsm pistons or something like that for 75 a piston that i might get
