    1996 SPX Question

I'm considering a 1996 SPX but I don't know anything about them, and I've searched the forum and can't seem to find much info on this model.

Is this model good or bad? Pros or Cons?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

The 96 SPX is a X4 hull, which is the same as the 95-96XP and 96-98 SPX I believe. They are considered by most to be the best all around performance hull design. Its mostly a 1 person ski. 2 up is possible but not easy. Should top out around 56-58 gps and turn as hard as you can turn it without flyin off.

So basically its a kick-ass ski.

The 1997 SPX had the 800. 1996 had the 720.

    The 720 engine is small

    Thanks for the replies!

I've been riding a pair of 97 Polaris SLTX, but would like to trade one of them in on a two-seater. But, i'm concerned about going from 130 hp down to 85 hp.

720's not a bad engine, very reliable and actually has a pretty good low end. You have to realize that the spx probably weighs close to 385lbs dry. The Polaris probably weighs double that. I would think that the spx would do real low 50's gps if in good shape.

the 720 motor isnt bad. has plenty of power for what it is. my 95 xp (same as 96 spx mechanically) did 53.5 with 180 lb rider. not bad all things considered.
