    Installing UMI Racing Steering

    I am now installing a UMI steering system on my 08' GP1300R but i'm not sure what to do with the Off Throttle Assisted Steering Sensor. What should I do with it?

    I kept mine plugged in & zip-tied it around the UMI steering stem. Off throttle steering becomes disabled. I think the sensor location changed after 05 so yours may be different

    Mounted mine solid to the underside of the steering.

    HPR, I`m doing the same thing. Any Tips? did you have to re-drill any of the holes?

    directions from UMI are pretty spot on..... if something needs to be drilled they give you the template

    We had to drill 2 new holes, 2 lined up and the other 2 didn't. Is that the same problem you found?

    well the base is installed. what a pain in the Yams...
    put a small bead of silicone under the base and bolted it down.

    yes, had to drill 2 new holes, the hull was already indexed with a cross mark.
    I have to figure out what I want to do with the front/top hole, wish they would have supplied a solid or closed plug for it...

    speedjunky had a good idea, I did it a little different, used nylon tube spacers, needed to add another 5/16 - 3/8 to clear the bolts from the mounting base. (could have used shorter bolts, but) so I cut down another tube with a smaller ID and tapped to 5/16. used this tube/collar to hold the bolts in place while I hold the piece up and start the nylock nuts. all SS hardware...

    getting the steering aligned/centered was a major PITYAMMS. after lengthening the front portion and also lengthening the rear by the steering nozzle I think I got it. Made center marks at the base and then measured the inside of the nozzle R>L and so on... prolly need a tweek when the bars are on, but the hard part is over...

    used a chrome 1" cap for the upper hole in the base...
