Exclamation SL650 needs top end... piston question

    Hey guys,

I recently aquired a 1992 Polaris SL650. It needs a top end. I've got the pistons out and of the three:

Mag piston is stamped WVB with a scribed 0.50.
    Center piston is not legible.
PTO piston is stamped WVA with nothing else.

Can I assume that this engine has been once bored .5 mm oversized? Guess I need to find some calipers to make certain. What does the WVB and WVA mean? Can anyone recommend a good place to find a top end kit? I've never used SBT's stuff before and they have the only kit I've found on the web for this old of make and model.

Thanks in advance for any answers given.

The WVA is stock Polaris pisrons. Not sure about a WVB??

Yes, the .50 is 1/2mm oversized.

I'd recommend the WSM piston kits over that SBT kit any day.

Check on Ebay for a Wiseco kit too. I've seen some 650 kits go for pretty cheap.

You can also find the WSM piston kits for around $270 in the Ebay "stores" section.

Another route you can take is to install 750 cyls on your ski for more HP. Something to think about, since boring 3 jugs and a piston kit will cost quite a bit.

i can order all the parts you would need / want also.

i have 750 cyls, and heads here, if you want to upgrade to a 750. ( still need to order piston kits though.)

i also have a complete 750 short block here, you could drop in and go.

send me an email, or call the shop ( week day morns are best time to call, and catch me here).

    thanks. zig
