how strong should a spark be?

I have a 98 xpl that will not start. The spark is constant but it dances around the electroted and it really dosent pop. I tested it on the head with a plug and it shocked me but not what you would expect from a spark pug lead. I have been shocked by bad wires before and it hurt. this was not that strong.

It is pretty weak. That's why they went digital the next year. A well charged battery is a must. On 800 engines a weak battery can prevent it from starting due to the weak spark.
