Scan Sea PWC scan tool details
Scan Sea has been around for a while now and it is no secret that the ability to diagnose faults among other functions on the modern watercraft has become more more of a problem as the complexity has increased. Add the fact we all want to modify our rides and the need to know what problems we are causing increases considerably.
Enter the picture your local PWC agent who be they Sea Doo dealers with the Buds system or the other brands, they usually want to retire off you and half the time they are not even competent to run the diagnostic systems they are weilding over us.
Scan Sea have not only cracked the BUDS system but turned out a package for those that wish to work on their skis which is simple to use and constantly upgradable. I purchased a Scan Sea and was surprised to see the quality of the product that arrived in the post. The initial package worked on SD 4 stroke craft, Yamaha GP1300 and Hydrospace.
I have since had two software updates at no extra cost and a couple more sets of leads which now allows conection with Kawasaki Di two stroke, Ultra 250 and Yamaha 4 strokes as well as a more advanced program for SD.
The next upgrades they are promising will include SD Di craft which will make this perfect for the non franchise shops and performance workshops.
I get asked is it as good as BUDS. If you have used buds you will find it a little slower but it does the job.
It will clear the MAINT from the dash.
It will look up faults giving both codes and poss causes and then clear the faults if you choose.
It lets you see minimum and maximums and rev ranges etc.
It will not turn on the VTS or compass etc.
You purchase these units from JM Racing (google them) and they are quite pricey but for me well worth the money. The units are made in Spain and tech support is from Juan at Scan Sea. He is very helpfull and his english is better than my Spanish but I find it better to email him with any questions.
The units are security coded which makes it useless if some one steals it from you.
I hope he gets rich from making and selling these units because it keeps big brother from holding his thumb over our heads and making us pay silly money to have plug ins at the respective dealerships.
I hope this answers some questions and "Go buy one so he will add 09's to the next updates"

Can you do more work with it apart from the std things, like re-set the TB, and adjust the angle?

More to the point, which models does it work with, as the new models come on-line, what happens then?
