    Midshafts

    Hey guys,

Reading through some of the builds, it seems like there's more than 1 way to do the shaft - I know Ted was the original way, and I think Mike is making shafts as well?

What's the difference? I have an 01 GPR, and an 06 RXP setup to go in, and I'm trying to figure out which way to go. Cut out the entire midwall, or leave the shaft mounting area? Use what I have, or get an alternative mid shaft assembly?

Looking to understand both concepts/designs, and simplify if possible......

    Thanks,
    Sean

Ted's shaft uses RXP and 00-01 GPR parts. Moves the bearing back and inch or so, and requires a bracket to be made. Has been used in tons and tons of boats without a hickup. Provides a little more room to work on things because of the setback bearing.

My Shaft uses RXP or RXT shafts, and 02-08 GPR parts. bearing stays in the stock location and does not require a bracket if you don't destroy the midwall when removing it. Has been used in a handful of boats, most notably Duke's ski that took 3rd in the hydrodrags.

I belive Ted is now stocking shafts, and so am I, so lead times should be comprable.

Both can use the same pump/ driveshaft/ spacer combo's as a 2002+ gpr.

    Midshaft differences are.

00-01 GPR Long 30" driveshaft with short pump and splined midshaft.
02 GPR Short 28" driveshaft with short pump and threaded midshaft.
03-08 GPR Long 30" driveshaft with 2" extended pump and threaded midshaft.
05-08 GPR uses the HO large hub pump.

    Now I am confused

My setup will be a Teds driveshaft based on all brand new shafts!
And I will be running a skat setback pump that now got a extensioner as well, and hoping that the shaft will be long enough?

Yes it will work with Teds shaft the midshaft bearing/seal is located 2" aft of the stock midwall location.
