It might work. But if your grate cracks you may have a problem.
My grate was cracked and an insert came out. I jb weld it and so far so good,
Let us know how the weld works out.

not a good idea if you suck up a rock or rope and need to take the grate off at the lake, drill 2 holes at either side of the rear bolt (into the ride plate) tap them with threads, then countersink the grate holes and use countersink bolts, its bulletproof, if you want a picture let me know, regards bill

I put an 08 plate on my 05 RXP which solved my brass insert issues. grate and plate are rock solid. There was a little modding of pump shoe involved to make it work.

drill the holes while the grate is bolted in situe, they will be close but very strong, fill in the two old holes after, hope this helps

its just fibreglass filler iuse its strong enough, dont use barrell heads use countersunk stainless steel bolts with allen key heads, just use a big drill to countersink them
