Should I re-use all myold gaskets?

I'm getting ready to put this engine back together.

Apparently lean-siezed the #3 (pto) cylinder.

Replacing the #3 cylinder with OEM used, New Piston and rings.

I'm wondering if I should re-use all my old gaskets, including head gasket?

They're all in good condition, some have *slight* calcium buildup in the water jacket area, that can be brushed off with a nylon brush.

These are the gaskets I have out, and am curious about.

    Head Gasket
    Head cover gasket
    Cylinder base gasket
    exaust manifold gasket (at cylinders)
exaust manifold gasket (at U pipe)

I'm in the process of ordering parts and want to find out if I should order those also, or if they're really necessary.

how did you like doing the rebuild? was it fun? if so use the old gaskets. If you want to be done with it get new.

Just messing around but with the money you already have invested I would go with new.

no...they "crush" when you install them initially. Please replace them.

i have reused head and cylinder base gaskets and never had any trouble, only recommend 1 reinstall and if u do, go buy a can of permatex copper gasket sealer and 2-3 coat each gasket and install and torque down when tacky, u should be fine

how old are the gaskets. what kind of shape are they in. if they are not peeling or broken you can reuse alot of gaskets. use some gasket sealer, lots of people use grease. a new set of gaskets is not alot. if it is not a high performance ski you can get a top end set for about 100 bucks.

Yeah, I thought it was a obvious answer for me also, but I keep seeing threads where people say "as long as the black felt-like covering was intact, they're fine to use again"

There is no black felt covering on the head, base, exhaust or head cover gaskets. There is a teflon type coating. I have re-used gaskets if they are in great to excellent condition. This means I installed them the first time with a light coat of grease and torqued to proper spec. I have reused head gaskets up to three times, I would be broke if I replaced them everytime I did an inspection. As for the crush think of it as a spring, metal has memory and I have not seen one flat yet after removal.
