    Arrow OEM Airbox opening

On my 2000 GPR.. The OEM air box for the carbs, what size is the round opening on the front of it? I want to modify my stock air box and add on a round clamp on type air filter to it.

What size is that round opening?

If you change the restriction on the airflow to your carbs you will need to adjust your jetting to compensate, even things like removing some of the air box makes a big difference. The OEM carbs are set up for a strong signal or negative pressure.

Yes Bill, I got the updated jets and all from you .It is set up for open element filters right now, but I am still running the stock air box. Can you tell me what is the size of the opening?? It looks like 3 or 3 1/2". I cant get to it right now with the pipe in the way. What I want to do is run a gutted stock air bow with a clamp on filter on the front of it.

just run an open stock gutted airbox. Albeit illegal, it works.
Do not put a filter on the front of the airbox. If you put an ebay/autozone car air filter on the front of the stock airbox you will ad more restriction than if you had left the stock airbox alone to begin with.

Remember that the things we all call air filters are nothing more than spark arrestors. They do not filter the air and are there for nothing more than to supress a backfire.

As far as the USCG is concerned it is illegal to run without flame arrestors... but it may be different for you all outside of the states..
However, I know that about half the guys I ride with run without them.. so it is what it is.

It's also illegal to change out the fuel lines with a non-USCG approved fuel line..
