    should it look like this?

this is out of a 99 xlt with 248 hrs. I was experiencing extreme cavitation. There was also a bog problem. Trap door warped. but I think I found the source of my cavitation issues.

Yes, that is exactly how it should look.

Lucky it wasn't worse. The cavitation burns (pits) look like there only on the prop. You should be able to find a good stock prop ~$30 +s/h.

The wear ring looks ok depending on clearance.

How long did you ride in this condition?

about an hour at slow speeds. the pump shoe also had a broken bold in it. I found a shoe and a stock prop for 115 on this site. the veins? also have some pitting. all the inserts are spinning and I am reading how to fix this.

Let me add a tip that saved me in the past.
To easily clear a wrap-up like this on the water:
-remove the spark plugs to eliminate the compression.
-grab the tail of the line (or cut one) and pull hard. (you can reach in with a riva/rd grate or remove it)
-with no compression the engine/drive shaft will turn backward to unravel the line.

Im not sure why you need a shoe but the veins can be ground smooth(smoothish). The veins wont normally "produce" cavitation and if they do its after the business end.

i think I bought it this way. The ski had a blown sbt motor in it. I have replaced the motor and fixed the other little broken things but sometimes you do not see the forrest for the trees. I do not think I looked. this is the first time I have had the boat in the water. I did not even know if it was water tight. I traded an old blaster for the boat. I think once I get the bugs worked out it will be a good ski. fortunatly this forum has seen just about all the problems.

I don't think that rope option is available from the dealer or aftermarket anymore

That's true but they are dispensed free-of-charge in the Hudson River after every hard rain.
