4800 rpm limit
Hello everyone, haven't posted in a while, can usually find answers by searching. Any way I have a 2004 MSX 150 with 90 hours, had it out this weekend and occasionally it would not go above 4800 rpm which I know is overboost mode. I could turn ski off and then restart and it would run normal, sometime i had to do it a couple times. The wastegate arm moves freely, does the wastegate solenoid cause this to happen. I have the old black solenoid. Just don't want to spend the money on a new solenoid if I don't need to, it kind of expensive.
Thanks for all the help

Are you getting the 'check engine ' light, when this happens?
If so...are you near a Polaris dealer that has the Digital Wrench software, to get the trouble code?
The trouble code(s) will greatly help you to get the right parts...you can do the work yourself, and only use the dealer to 'pull' out the codes (my dealer charges me 1 hour's labor to do this).

yes I get the check engine light. As far as a dealer, I will have to check, not many in my area if any want to touch the MSX's.

But...if they have the Digital Wrench, and use it for the Polaris land products...then they have the software that will diagnois your ski. Polaris includes ALL of their products in their Digital Wrench software. Most dealers have no problems with hooking it up...and just pulling the codes.
With the trouble code(s) in hand, you can come here and get specific instructions.

If you suspect the wastegate solenoid you can bench test this. It is switched to earth via the computer. meaning it has constant 12 volt supply to the other terminal.
Set it up with a tube and blow through it while energising / de -enegising the solenoid. dont forget to check all ports for flow as this also has to let the wastegate vent to atmosphere (to allow it to close) when the power is dropped off.
From what i have read and the upgrade from Polaris this is destined to fail sometime.
There is an original one like yours on Ebay Motors may be woth picking up. It is cheap.
