    Need Advice...Looking at a '99 Exciter

I am looking for advice on a '99 Yamaha Exciter 270. I am new to the boating world but am somewhat handy when it comes to mechanical issues. The owner is asking $3000 for the boat, however it is not running and has a few seats needing repair and the engine hatch is faded. It has sat for a year (running last year I am told) but now both engines (with 175 hrs on them) are not running. The carbs were rebuilt last year but my thinking is since both engines are not running, maybe it could be something as simple as the carbs being clogged and bad gas maybe? I dont know, what should I look for when I go to look at it? What would you guys do? I plan on running a compression test to see if it is something with the engines, but I read on here when conducting a compression test to unplug some type of power servo? Not sure where that is. Anyway, let me know what you guys think...thanks.
