    oil level indicator??

working on a '95 sl650std for a guy and have a quick question. i took out the oil pump and replaced it with a oil block off kit. wondering about the two wires that run to the electrical box off the oil level indicator...if i take these out completely will it put the ski in "limp" mode or not? i know that when i took them out of my other skis i had to run a jumper wire with a 33 ohm resistor in it. do i need to do that to this one. one wire is black in the other is tan...any help would be great!! thanks a million!

There is no limp mode on that ski. But, there should be a warning buzzer.

You should use the resistor like on your ski, or just tie the sender float in the "up" position and tuck it out of the way somewhere.

Tan is the overheat sensor, and the low oil warning.

Both connect to the warning buzzer.

Since you have converted to pre-mix, just cap off the tan wire that went to the low oil switch on the oil tank.

Leave the Tan wire for the buzzer and overheat intact.

Unlike later models, I think the 650 low oil sender is just a switch, not a variable ohms sender.

Like K said ,the oil sender is just a switch on the 95 650 std.If the sender is disconnected,no warning,no trouble,no limit.
Pull the wires in the elec box and you will be good.
