    scam ideas?

if you're looking to do something illegal then you're on the wrong website.

what is the reason they can't be registered in NY?

2 strokes are not very popular with tree hugging hippies, those same hippies that live in wonderful timber houses.

Iowan, In 2008, Ny and Ca upped thier epa emmissions standards and won't allow a 2008 2-stroke to be bought new and registered in Ny or Ca.

There was a thread on this a year ago. i can't find it. But, it went somewhere along the lines of buying the ski and registering it in another state(NJ,CT) in someone elses name. Then transferring it to your name as a gift in NY as a used ski.

The law only states it can't be bought new and registered in NY or CA. It only applies to the 2008-up model year 2 strokes.

Another option if you have family or friends in NJ or Ct is to buy the ski in your name and title & register it at their address and just use their states reg. #'s.

The registration renewal will come to their address every year and they can just mail it to you to send in.

I have 2 skis and a boat with 3 trailers and all my stuff uses an address I don't live at. I do it because i live in the city and don't have the room or security to store them. Been doing it for 10+years.
