Exhaust leak = RPM's????
I just looked at teh top of my carbs on my 1200R and realized somewhere around the rear cyl. i must have a minor exhust leak. there is a greyish black suit on the rear carb, side of my motor. Will this be my missing rpm's? I checked the head bolts and retorqued them to specs, they were still good. Any Ideas?

absolutely......how bad were they "untorqued"?

they were torqued correctly, i just waned to double check them. im thinking its coming from teh pipe. Its not a bad leak though. im missing liek 200 rpm though.

Do a run without your seat on to ventilate the engine bay of exhaust fumes.
If your missing rpm are back you got an exhaust leak.

were your exhaust bracket bolts above your carbs that go to your cylinders tight?
the grey color sounds like aluminum working loose and mixing with a little water that might of splashed up there, just a thought?
