Thread: Ride plate

Afternoon, or Good evening. For stock class do you recommend getting a new upgrated ride plate? 1) is it an absolute necessity and if so does it really make that big of a difference as far as the handling? Finally if push came to shove would you get a new ride plate or a wedge?
Thanks again, looking forward to this season.

Talk to Mitch Newlin. He'll be able to hook you up with his rideplate mod we've been using for the past few years on the RXP. Basically just skegs and a extension off the back of the rideplate. I'd suggest Jim's, but I'm not sure if his skegs are race legal

nice! thats what I need. I will send him a PM. Im assuming I will ship my plate off to him? did you notice any speed difference?

I never noticed any speed gain. I might have lost a little bit, but top speed doesnt mean much when the boat is spinning out into turns.
This year I went to a custom set of sponsons. Haven't done mitch's rideplate mods to the open boat or the X. The X doesnt need it at all and on the open boat with the auto drop nozzle and those custom sponsons it handles great.

Sweet... Thanks. It might be a bit of a drive for me. I will see what he says about it. Course I do have my plate holes filled so that will be a joy to get those off.
