Little things can cause big problems

We went and spend the weekend at the camp this weekend. I woke up saturday morning and noticed my wifes rxp to be sitting very low in the water. Upon removing the seat I found that the engine was half way under water. I placed the ski on the floating dock and drained all of the water out. After it was drained I placed the ski back in the water and began searching for the leak. After about an hour of searching I found the water to be coming from one of the bolts that holds the opas fins to the hull. It was about half way out. I tightened the screw and the leak stopped. Just a couple more ours and I could have had major problems over one small screw.

Glad you found the leak. Keep an eye on it!

It could have been much worse Loopie, you got lucky.

You might want to put some OPAS blockoffs on that thing.

major problem over a small screw

there's a major life lesson in there somewhere.

round here it's typically a donkey that forget to put the drain plugs back in at the ramp.

I've educated the marina staff about what to tell customers when they have that happen, so at least they showed up at the door without trying to start the engines first.

Ya, got both skis in the water at the boat ramp before I realized I did not put the drain plugs in.............. oops!!

MY new HABIT .... start them before leaving house
    .... put drain plugs in
.... fuel up on way, no matter how much is in tank
.... say a prayer to Posiden the God of Oceans to protect us!!

I thought the drain plugs were a one way water flow type of thing.

    Water out = yes
    Water in = no
