It always dispays the time, fuel, and oil levels when it's sleeping. When ya press the mode button or start switch it will wake with the led flashing.

Mine does too and after a few days of not using it, the batteries dead. So I put in a dead mans switch and all well. Once I turn it on, the guage stays dead untill I hit the start button.

I think that is not correct operation for an MFD.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think the MFD should 'wake up' right away when power is applied to the Red/Purple wire.

    Correct.

Tweeder, you got something else draining your battery.

Alot of guys seem to think the MFD will drain their battery. It WON'T!!!

    Think of it like this....

A wrist watch has a TINY battery and lasts for years.

Your MFD is no different than a LCD wrist watch. And look at the size of the battery it has.

    Something else is draining.

Where did you install this cut-off switch?
    Which wire?

My whole mfd stays on all the time, the whole thing. Right now its dead though and the fuse is good, gonna check the wiring in the back. If that don't drain the batterywhat else?
