do a search here on the forums...you will find all the answers you need...

    A. type of riding: rec vs racing (cc vs offshore)
    B. type of water: lake vs ocean
    C. needs: speed vs rough water handling
    D. wedge or no wedge
    E. other mods

in order of highest speed increase riva and/or tdm then r&d then jims oem mod...then oem

best for handling rough oem then followed by jims oem mod and/or r&d then tbm and finally riva

best of both worlds speed and rough toss up between r&d and tbm

that is a nutshell do a search and read all the posts.....

......what are YOUR needs for a new ride plate?? see my earlier post.....

each of those plates have their pluses and minuses depending on what your want to do........

r&d is ok for speed increase(maybe 1.5mph) and has really good rough water handling
riva is really for speed (2mph)....rough water handling is oooooook but with the lx wedge you do loose a lot of hookup in rough water.....

soooo which one is best is up to YOUR needs

speed = riva sooo if u r a speed freak this is the plate
mod speed and good rough water handeling = R&d so if u like riding in rough ass water and with some additional speed the r&d is the plate

i have the riva and the lx wedge

for the ultra 250/260x there is only ONE r&d the one listed on their website

    hope that helps

i ride the ocean ruff water but also run the bay . i want the better handling in the ruff as long as it donsent effect the smooth water ride .

A plate that gives good rough water hookup will not run as well on smooth water. I ran the Riva plate and 2* wedge for a long time. It's the outright fastest setup but it sucks so far as hookup on anything other than smooth water. I'm now running the R&D plate with 1* wedge. It hooks up great and eats chop but it's not as fast as the Riva setup.
BUT......... it only takes a little bit of chop for the R&D plate to out perform the Riva. Even with 1' or less, the R&D plate/wedge will outrun the Riva every time.
Every plate is a compromise one way or another. If you are riding offshore and on inland rivers or lakes, get the R&D. If you want the best of both worlds, you may need to get the Riva and R&D.
There is no plate out there for the 250X that is the best in speed and rough water. It's one or the other.

    thanks beagle ,

i run in the ocean and bay but most of the time the bay has some chop to it , unless its very early in the morning .

so does it make it worst in the smotth water or just does nothing ?

The R&D isnt worse in smooth, it it just a tad slower thatn the Riva (maybe 1 mph). However, if you are mostly riding in chop, you wont be able to get a good top speed because the Riva will lose hook-up and slow down. The R&D keeps the hook-up in flat and will be faster. Beagle summed it up pretty good.

Bottom line, if you will mostly be riding in chop, the R&D will outperform the Riva.
