    Brainstorm on seat repair

I have 2 skis that need seat repairs. Not the vinyl but the molded plastic. On one of them, the seat latch has pulled out because the plastic "box" the the latch attaches to is cracked. Aside from removing the vinyl and foam and repairing from the top side, have any of you guys had any luck with any type of glue? I am open to suggestions.

they are both 1050s 2 seaters. 97 & 98. One has single seat and the other is the 2 piece seat>

Thanks for any input on previous success.

Have you considered a plastic welding kit?

I am thinking about some heavy duty epoxy, which would be similar to plastic welding, but I thought I would see what others have done because I know I am not the only one that has had this issue. Thanks for the suggestion.

    seat

have you looked into a new seat base? most of them are still advilible from polaris. Or there are a lot of guys parting out ski's these days. i have a seat off a 96 slx 780, don't know if it's the same? Could you put a plate that would go into another part of the seat to hold it there. only other thing i could think of is remove the foam and fix it from the top.

Don't know if this will help you

    Cheers

Taking the vinyl and foam off is what I was trying to avoid because I think you need an upholstery press to re-install the vinyl( I could be wrong). But you are correct in the fact that from the top is the way to fix it. As far as used seats go, not too many around that are in ok shape.

Have you talked to John Zigler and Beach_Blonde about good used seats?
Or at least non-broken seats you can recover.

Can you fit a one piece seat in place of the 2 part seat?

I think others who have done upholstery work on these seats have found that it can be done by hand, but a good electric stapler and stainless steel or monel metal staples are needed.

You can get fitted seat coverings from JetTrim and HydroTurf. If they don't list what you need on the web site, just phone them.
