Bill, if I may make a suggestion.
When you install the screw to remove the plug-
I use a small machine bolt that I cut a groove into making it "self tapping"
Use a longer machine bolt and install a nut on it.
Insert it thru a 1/4" drive socket.(large enough for plug to fit into it)
Tighten into plug( Nut must be above socket)
Then just turn nut down onto top of socket and the plug will pull straight out into the socket.
I can get pics of the machine screw tomorrow if need be.

Like I said there are several ways to do this mod, post up your pics choices are what it is all about. The main reason I did this thread was to show where the plugs are located and a tried and proven method to remove. I have had several people contact me who have damaged carbs or ruined carbs trying to remove the plugs. People who try to drill it out and drill into the adjuster and break it, broken drill bits in the plug, carb body drilled from the opposite side of the adjuster and drilled clear through into the needle of the adjuster, you name it I have seen it. This is not the definitive method, it's just an FYI for people (with pics for those who need it)

Nevermind my post...I saw "tamper-proof" and immediately thought of the special hex's with tamper proof heads...should have had the brain capacity to realize you would have used the terminology of "security torx"

Thanks for posting this Mr Bill.
GPR owners with stock carbs that have never been touched, this is a modification that should be done for your carbs.
Bill also is also our forum carb specialist who offers a service for carb rebuilding as well.
* There are other tuners/business owners as well who offer this service as well on the forum.
Great job OsideBill!

Wouldn't be attempting this re-build without the knowledge gained here.
Would I have the tamper caps on the '04 xlt1200 ? it is a US import.
Thanks in advance,
