2002 Kaw 1100 Stx d.i. issues-- please help!
Purchased end of season last year. Ran fine 5-6 times. Pulled out of water and put in storage for winter. Got out to get it ready for this season, replaced battery. Put in the water and started fine, started missing, got engine code 9, ran good a little while longer, started missing again then started flashing BAE and a battery symbol and died. It will crank but won't start. Any and all suggestions appreciated!!!

DI skis do not flash fault codes. They are stored in the EMM (engine management module) and can only be accessed using Kawasaki's diagnostic s/w and cable. I think the BAE you referenced as flashing was in fact BAT, for the battery. You either have a defective battery, stator, or EMM. Cheapo batteries will not survive in this type of ski, since it consumes alot of power to drive the electronics and injectors. You need a good AGM sealed battery, such as Yuasa, Jet Works, Odyssey, etc.

Check the battery voltage when:
> Engine is not running - should be >12.2 VDC minimum.
> Engine is idling (if it starts up) - should be > 13.5 VDC minimum.
Was there "CHECK ENGINE" symbol flashing also on the dash meter when engine was missing/running bad? It would also flash that when engine fails to start when cranking.
