New numbers after grate & plate bolt hole's filled
I went out this morning to see if I gained anything by filling in the bolt holes on the intake grate and ride plate. The conditions were 80 degrees with 76% humidity, and water was slick. The best run was 66.6 (what an evil GP I have). The average was 66.3 My rpm's were 6950-6960. For comparison at Mudbug I was turning 6930 with a best of 65.0, the average was 64.8. It was extremely hot at Mudbug so I am not willing to say I gained 1.5mph by doing this mod. The 66.1 listed in my signature I was turning 6990 in the best weather I have ever ridden in. It was 70-75 degrees with extremely low humidity (I had a shorty wetsuit on), a cool front pushed through last October and the air was cool and dense. My overall conclusion from this mod is that I gained 1mph. So if anyone thinks its worth spending a few hours on their back doing this mod for a 1mph gain, have at it. It was worth it to me.

1 mph for an hours work is huge.
Once your setup is dialled in I strongly recomend this.

I sanded my single pipe everywhere and did not notice much.
My triple pipe has no sanding or holes filled and the ride plate has salt oxidation all over it. it has gone a best of 83.5.
It is hard to gauge gains but i guess every thing helps.
66 on a GP is a great job. Wish I still had my 99 it was an animal back in its time.
