    the battery thread

did some searching and notice there really wasn't too much out there on batteries, so I thought we could have a thread with different reviews from everyone

so what battery are you using in your sea-doo, where did you get it? and how do you like it?

    beacause it hurts..

to change the battery in my gtx-rfi, I opted for an odyssey battery, yeah, expensive buy-in, but pretty much like a fuel cell..worry free, good warranty and just disconnect the battery in the off season. Needs an expensive charger if you're having electrical problems, but again it's well worth the buy in just in the savings on blue jeans (and not having to sheepishly grin when my wife pulls my acid burned pants out of the washer).. I pulled a vent hose off a battery last week and nearly got acid in my eye! No more cheatin on goggles now..I should know better by now... Burned a nice little hole in my ball cap

I sold some sealed chinese AGM batteries last season and crossed my fingers when I got called out to start them up for memorial day.

They were in a couple of older tigersharks ( no computer draw) and the batteries had been left connected.

Had more then enough punch to spin the engines up.

Unless you're collecting deposit bottles for gas money, go with the best battery you can afford.

i find interstate batteries hold up pretty well even when left to self discharge during the off season... if cash is a problem. I've had a few of them charge up at .5 amp for a few days and seem to put out good power.

+1 on the OE. July 1, 09 makes four years, since I have had the ski, and I am unsure how long the ski sat before I bought it.

EDIT: 12/29/09...Battery is dead. 4.5 years!!!

Replaced both batteries this past Memorial Day. Got 5 years out of the OEM ones. Now have sealed batteries. Bought them at the dealer. $135 each.

I bought a Odyseey battery 3 years ago (so this will be it's fourth season) and have had zero problems. The occasional clicking while starting went away and has never come back. It was pricey though. Never had to charge it and leave in the ski over the fall/winter... Ron

Person I bought my ski from 1 year ago put the Deka ETX30L in. Not sure how long he had it but the date code on the bottom shows 12/06. I have had the ski for a year with no problems. I recently had low voltage but the ground was a little loose, I tightened it and had no problems last time out.

If I replace it I will get the same or the Odyssey 925L.

I just picked up two at Batteries Plus. It is there Extreme brand AGM battery. They were like $85 a piece out the door. I want to say it is this model but I don't rightly recall.

Actually, I think it was this one. I'll have to look when I get home.
