So I took the cover off.....

of the VTS assembly and voila', this is what I got along with a few tablespoons of water.

I have never had the VTS cover off before.

I checked all wires first for cuts, shorts and so forth because I kept blowing fuses......

I can't see/feel any tears in the boot of the VTS Arm by the pump.....is that where the water is coming in from?

DOH!!!! I hit post without loading the pic.....I will upload it to my me.com site and post in a moment! D*MN

That's really the only place where it can come in. Remove the boot and have a good look at it... mainly where the clamps are on the ends.

The clamps on the boot are some sort of double overlayed plastic clamps, any advice on how to remove them?

To remove the clamps just grab the thumb buttons things and push them in opposite directions... they will pop right open.

It appears that water has been in there for awhile

I was having some major elec issues last year with the ski turning over when the DESS wasn't on the post and things, maybe this is why (stuff shorting out and so forth).......

    Will try the clamps now!

I just looked a little closer at the picture... and the motor seal where the wires come in is not sealed properly! My guess is all that moisture has trashed your motor. You can hook the motor leads up directly to a battery (fused of course) but take the motor out of the housing first, so you don't over travel the drive shaft.

    ok, so here.....

    are some more pics.

The boot 'seems' GOOD, haven't done a water test, but I SEE no cracks/holes, aside from the Watery Grease!

The fitting to the hole feels solid, no cracks that I can detect with a HAND test.

Can I pull the motor without loosening the big black nut in pic?

The white plastic clamp seems a little weak.....

    Thanks again!

Yes... the motor will come right out by removing the (3) 10mm bolts on the inside. The big nut holds the entire housing to the hull.
