    Windows 7 Rocks!

Anyone else install it? I did a complete wipe and reinstall. Anyone do an inplace install? Just wondering how that worked out.

7 picked up all my drivers, my wireless networks. Vista is gone for good

I'm digging Windows 7. (5 freakin claps baby)

So, I did a boneheaded thing, and bought vista when it came out. Since then, lockups, bsd, and most annoyingly, chattering my harddrive to the ends of time. Slow as hell to boot, and gihunormous amount of hard drive space usage.

...and it all seem to get worse over time. If I did a clean wipe of the hard drive and redid it all, the puter would run okay for a couple of days. If I dropped all my pics/video/editing software on it...BAM right back into the dog house.

I'm still running XPpro on my gamer system that I also do my good picture work, so no issues there.

So, I got a clean install of Win 7 and did the dirty deed.... NIGHT AND DAY from Vista. I am told this is just a warmed over version. Whatever. It works, and works slick. It no longer chatters my hard-drive 7x24. It no longer drops drivers. It no longer has BSD when it feels like I'm in the middle of a long document. It no longer takes 2 min to power up and down... oh, and now my warm down/up work correctly. It never did with Vista. That system is up and rockin in 2 seconds. Literally. Quiet as a mouse too. I am one happy Win7 owner. Whatever they did, worked. I went ahead and redid it with a SSD for my boot software. That was pretty cool. Now my boot time is less than 20sec from computer unplugged to typing email responses. The computer is even quieter now with the SSD. It only looks at my giant HD when I'm pullling files up/down.

+1 never had a problem on my desktop..

im currently running vista on my laptop which im using right now and it sucks, you need at least 2GB of memory for vista to run decent.

Do everyone think it's worth $49 for me to upgrade to win7? I get a discount on software through my school and can get the upgrade for $49

I have moved all of my machines to 7. To me it is a no brainer to do the upgrade.7 even runs great on older machines that vista would not work on.

    dammit!!!
I`m not even going to attempt to do this... My dell 1720 is a POS and runs Vistas which is the problem, yes crashes frequently, loses media store drivers etc...loses printer spool driver occasionally...
I`ve already lost a ton of info bc of Vista and rebooting, Now I know better and back up important docs...

maybe my next laptop will have 7 or I`ll just get a Mac...

it does seem that a lot of the netbooks come with XP, why is that???

my wifes little acer runs flawlessly with XP... go figure...

Andy, If you put 7 on it, most of your problems will go away.I have friends with the same issues as you and once they upgraded they were golden.
