    Xpl Rideplates.

    I have a 98 Seadoo XPL.

Is it worth while to change the ride plate to a 97 Rideplate.
And what do you guys use to fill the mounting holes of the rideplate to make it as flush as possible. Would 3M polyurethane be anygood?

And do you have to use "right stuff" to mount the rideplate or will any sealant do.

Just interested in different opinions and experiences.

you lose a little bit of grip with the 97 ride plate, if you want a LITTLE bit more speed go with the 97

i use water weld... i think some guys use that 3M stuff

i use silicone in an aerosol can... im not sure what everyone else uses...

I noticed that when I hook everything back up that my grate sits lower then my rideplate. My gut tells me that the ride plate and the grate should be flush.. Can anybody help me out?

Í can't post any pics of the problem anymore because I shimmed it when I glued the rideplate back yesterday to make it all sit flush.

I'm going to the water today and see if it made any difference.

But wicked you also think it should be flush right?

I believe so, I heard the ride plates are identical. excpet the angle is a slight bit different causing the ski to ride a bit higher out of the water.

let me know if you feel any difference. thanks!

I have heard it is good for a solid 1 mph gain from several different people on different sites, so hopefully it is.. I am debating on buying on or not myself.

The 97 rideplate is good for approximately 1 mph on flat water. For closed course racing I would stick with the 98+ rideplate, for recreational riding I use the 97 rideplate.

There is some good info in these threads:
