Is it safe to run my engine....

Is it safe to run my engine on the hose - with the jet pump & shaft removed?

Last weekend, sucked up some plastic, got it all out to the best of my knowledge.

On the way back to the boat ramp, engine started vibrating badly - but felt like it was firing on all cylinders. Idled it back to the ramp.

I'm trying to figure out if there's still some bag in the pump somewhere or if it's an engine problem.

As fast as it goes back together, I would put it together and put it in a local pond or lake and try it out...

good chance it is something wrapped around the driveshaft - you might take a look with a flashlight

Pulled the jet pump and shaft out, did not see ANYTHING in the jet pump. Shaft and impeller spins freely.

Attached the hose and started the engine.. I don't normally run the engine with the seat off but sounded to me like it had a knock. couldn't identify where the knock was coming from.

Sigh. Time to pull cylinders AGAIN.

pull head off and rotate by hand / listen for crank / weird bearing noise. Check the PV's for a dropped condition / hitting or catching pistons. Is your cat removed? Tell us what you find. Wish you luck!
