What is the Best Way to 80 MPH?

What is the best way to get to 80 mph on a ski? What platform is the best without having to do a conversion? What is the lowest cost? What is the most reliable 80 mph ski?

You can build a ground up conversion to hit 80+ for around 6k. 8K close to 90.

    Without doing a conversion?

Depends on your flavor. Do you like 2strokes or 4 strokes?

A GP13R will get you there with some add ons. Probably have $8k-12k in it when you are done, and need to keep very good gas in it. It will be a smooth water weapon, and not very fun on the bottom end. There is no wiggle-room on tuning, and piston replacement will be something you will get really good at it.

A RXP would be the 4stroke option. You will need a bunch of money. You will probably lose reliability and have to deal with sc clutch issues more than ride the ski. Rough water makes it even less reliable. You might spend anywhere between $10k-15k. Your ski will scream out of the hole, and if you hit it just right, you can touch 80mph on occasion.

RXP by far the easiest to get to 80+with killer acceleration and still be very reliable, fuel efficient, and rec rider friendly. It will cost about $3000 in mods and some tuning for a consistant and reliable 80-82mph. This can all be done while retaining the stock ecu. I have clocked over 50 trouble free hours on my 81+mph ski.
