    1st ride of spring-problems

went out yesterday after a winter of adding some parts, ski wasnt good.seemed like throttle had mind of its own.idled very high and then check engine warning light came on.shut it down it wouldnt start swam to shore. it then started just seemed like it wouldnt rev and take off, light came on again.i held number 1 down for 8 seconds and it flashed o1 meaning no problems.start it out of water and it was like throttle stuckwide open.was wondering if cooler temperature would cause efi or efi cont. to act up it was around 47 t0 48 farenheit

my first guess is bad gas.

    tell us some more info

like... what kind of ski you ride
    what year the ski is
what kind of parts were on it before
what parts did you put on this winter

all of this stuff would be very helpful

if you have compression numbers thatd help as well.

    Don,

Your throttle cable and or throttle body (efi or carbs) is frozen...use some wd40 etc to fix that issue and you shouldn't have any redline probs off the trailer (same thing happened to be during my 2nd season of riding.)

As far as the ski not taking off...just get that terrible fuel out of it...burn an additional tank on your old plugs, change plugs.

should fix all of your issues to be honest.

I had a kawi I just rebuilt for a friend only do 38 mph because of this new ethanol crappy gas that decays significantly faster than the older fuels did. After a tank of fuel it is now doing 60 mph and responding like a champ.

did you use the paper gaskets with sealer? and tightened to spec?
just a film of sealer, not to much?
is the key in the correct way?
sounds like you are premix, are the caps on the nipples securely?
