    Help me decipher (Trim Motor)

Well my ski (94SL750) ran great this weekend at the lake but the trim was acting funny. It was trimming up but very slow to go down, by the end of the day it would not go in the down position at all.. So I took the trim motor off tonight and popped the cover. The motor visually looked great so I hooked some jumper wires to it and it operated in the down and up positions perfectly smooth and at the same speed. So I fired up the motor and tried the toggle switch. It would go up but not down. I am 99% sure this means the toggle switch is bad.. Just want to make sure before I go spending $ on one. What do you guys think? If it is the toggle where can I get a new one or used one?

Bench test proved the motor was good, so it looks to be the switch then.

You can try to clean the contacts yourself, or get a used one from John Zigler.

Slick PWC posted a brand new one for sale in the Ebay BIN, but was way too pricey IMO.

How do I open this waterproof switch up to clean the contacts? I took the
two screws out of it holding it to the handle bar and saw where 4 wires went to it. Do I unplug it and get to it from there? Also whats a decent price for these used?

    I've never opened one up.

But if it's bad already, you aint gonna hurt it right????

See what John Zigler has for you. I'd guess around $20.

yeah, i should have a sw here for you.

send me an email, if you determine that is what you need. you may be able to open it up, and just clean the contacts.

Thanks. I will try cleaning it today and see if that works. If not then I will contact you for a switch.

Hey mine is doing the same thing except it goes down and not up. I was thinking the problem was in the electrical box, but I will have to check the switch as well.

check the motor manually with jump leads to the battery first. Normal polarity will go one way and when you switch the leads (reverse polarity) the motor will spin the other way. If it does that just fine then it should be your switch that has the issue.

Well I ordered a good used switch from Zigler on Friday.. Hopefully this will take care of the trim problem.
