    Oil Filter STX-15F

Can you use the 250X (Kawasaki 16097-003) filter on the 15f or do you have to use Kawasaki 16097-004?

Well there has to be a reason why the part numbers are different ... Could be something as simple as the drain back valve in the bottom .sure they might fit both applications ... that common on alot of makes of cars... might be wise to do some research a little deeper bro... wouldn't want ya to jack something up cause of a filter.

This is why a asked the question. Have 003 filters for my 250x, don't have 004 filter since I just got the 15F, but will get some. Thanks for the help.

I have the same thing going on. Have an 07 250x and a new 08 15f. I looked on babbits.com at the 08 15f parts diagram and it list both the 0004 as well as the 0003 for the 08 15f. Where as the 07 250x only list the 0003. Seems like kawi is saying you can use either on the 15f but only the 0003 on the 250x.

I just purchased the 004 for the 15F from here:

    http://www.parkeryamaha.com/search.aspx?find=16097-004

This is the cheapest place I found. They also have the 003 for the 250X at the same price.

With one being longer than the other .. it stands to reason that the anti drain back valve in the filter probably holds more oil for the supersharger. You could probably use either one .. just depends on how much room you have to play with .. make sure the longer filter doesn't interfer with hull to filter clearances.. should be ok
