Thread: torsion axles

Anybody have an idea how to service torsion axles? I just picked up a trailer with them and want to make sure they are in good shape. The trailer rides nice... no bouncing or noise like my old spring axle...

Torsion trailer axle service/checks
As far as I know, you just keep the bearings and seals in good condition and greased, like any other axle. Check them for grinding noise. Should be no gritty feeling when you spin them (off the ground), and very little bearing wobble/play.
Make sure the axle mounting bolts are not rusted, and are tight.
And that is about it.
Bearing Buddies, or similar, will help maintain 100% solid grease inside the bearings, and keep water outside of the seals.
