The book says to change the oil every 100 hours of operation or every season. I would never let the oil go 100 hours. I noticed the oil gets dirty quick in these 4-tec motors. Probably because of the hi-revving engine. I think the oil should be changed twice a season.

Some owners change it more then 2 times a season. Changing it more often then not is the way to go....

    Have a great summer!

    Change it!

Yes change it for sure. after you run it on the hose for half a minute with the trailer level. oil should be in the middle of the bends on the stick. if you check the oil when engine is cold you will always get a false reading

I change mine every 25 hrs and its always clean. Start motor run for 30 seconds, shut off count to 30 and check oil level, it should be in the center of the bump on the stick.

ya we checked it before we put it in for the summer and it looked pretty bad.. but maybe not as bad as it looked cuz it was a false reading? i just wanna make sure we are doin everything right when we change it.. and my dad thinks you can run it without a hose plugged in?

No' don't run it without a hose hooked up to the flush port!
If you run it without a hose hooked up, you can overheat the drive line. Always hook a hose up when you run it.

Remember these steps when flushing and running the boat with a hose connected.

    1. Start Engine
    2. Turn on hose/Water & flush for 1 minute
    3. Turn off hose/water
    4. Turn off engine

I changed mine after about 20 hours use- oil looked dam clean. Engine only has probably 50 hours on it though.
