    '98 XPL Won't hook up

I put the tube on the back of my '98 XP Ltd. this past weakend to pull the kids around. And when taking off it didn't want to hook up. If I would get out of it and let the wake come up against the back of the ski it would go almost like you were priming it. Or if I ran the trim up that would help. But I don't understand why it's doing that with the nozzle down?

Does it feel like its slipping? Sounds like you need a new wear ring.

Maybe the seal around the drive shaft is sucking air too ??

Last week we had our 96 GTI at the lake with a new tube. This tube was a low pofile type meaning not very thick between your butt and the water. It rode rought and took some time getting it on plane with 3 people in it.

Unhooked it and put on our space shuttle tube thats alot bigger and no problems getting on plane.

Sometimes tubes and big people just don't work right

Also check the condition of the leading edges of your prop. If they are boogered up from previously sucking rocks, the added load of a tube will make it cavitate like crazy.

Post us up some pics of the pump with the prop installed, so we can see what you have, and see the condition of the wear ring.

Check the liner/prop and the front seal but I think
Your Pump shoe is leaking(black plastic shoe where the pump bolts up to) it needs to be removed and cleaned up and then reinstalled and sealed (sikaflex) with the necessary shims that where installed at the factory. When you move the trim up the pump is pushing down on the shoe at the bottom and it seals the gap but when you move it down the shoe comes away from the hull at the bottom and lets air into the pump just before the prop
It is a pig of a job and quite time consuming .
