97 GP1200 What's the best carb adapter and flame arrestors?

Trying to do the small things to my newly acquired GP1200. Right now i have the factory air box on it and i want to get rid of it and put some flame arrestors on but not sure what the best is.

I've seen a few k&n adapter for cheap on ebay but not sure on the sizes. Also, what size flange for the flame aresstors?

Do the velocity stacked carb adapters do anything special?

    Thanks

Most of the adapters are the same od for the Flame arrestors, R&D has a special one called Pro-Lok which their arrestor snap on to. You just have to make sure you buy them to fit the correct carb, in your case 44mm Mikuini SBN. You also need to take into account your oil injection, as it is fed through your arrestor. This needs to blocked off and go pre-mix or a nipple needs to be put in the adapter or choke shaft hole for the oil injection.

Actually I am already premixing and i have a primer pump rather than a choke. Will that make a difference.

I havent really got down and dirty with everything yet. So on all adapters there are two holes?

Sorry I am a newb to carbs and two strokes. Im gonna go educate myself though.

I have an RD plenum that bolts onto the tops of your carbs. With an outerwares prefilter on it to prevent water injestion. new was abt 170. You could have them for 75 shipped. Some say the plenum type is better than individual stacks. Email me at [email protected] if you want it.

I currently run the R&D power plenums on both my 65U motors. I may have to do something different on the current GP build as I went with a side draft manifold and carbs with built in bell mouths.
